Thanksgiving Part Deux

in My Every Day

Last night we stuffed ourselves with Thanksgiving food and went to bed. This morning, er, afternoon, I got out of bed and ate more Thanksgiving good. And pie, since I didn’t have any (room for any) on Thursday night.

That seems especially pathetic when I see it in print.

Our “shopping” on Black Friday amounted to renting Iron Man from the video store for $1.99 (with a $1 coupon). I have essentially one gift to buy for my goddaughter for Christmas. The family isn’t exchanging, and I’ve decided that all of the other people on Scott’s side that I usually buy for? I will offer input and sign my name on a tag or two, but frugality must reign this season.

It’s not as much fun, but it sure takes some of the stress off.

Getting the house together for dinner was a day long event, and honestly, a pain in the ass. But when you consider that in the end you get to keep the leftovers after everyone goes home, it’s totally worth it.

Other than having to be in the house while a few episodes of Hannah Montana ran in the background on TV (please explain to me why a 15 year old boy would have an interest in watching a show that is clearly targeted at ten year old girls who like the color pink), the day was all I could have hoped for in a day after Thanksgiving. We also rented Hancock, which was very entertaining. Today was a superhero movie festival, complete with leftover turkey dressing.

I have never been more thankful for sweatpants with an elastic waist. Truly, one of the greatest inventions of all time.

Abby turned one year old today. I always forget about Newman’s birthday, but Abby’s seemed easy to remember, knowing it would be the day after a national holiday where the only priorities would be to chow on leftovers and perfect the ass-shaped indentation on the couch. So in an unprecedented move, I looked up a dog-friendly cake recipe on the Internet and gave it a shot.

Happy Birthday Abby

The recipe is essentially a peanut butter/honey/carrot muffin, with (vom) pureed cottage cheese as “icing.”

Happy Birthday Abby

Heart-shaped individual tins so that each of the dogs could enjoy one (the golden is up for the long weekend, her hairy ass in need of furminating and all).

Happy Birthday Abby

All dogs loved the treats and no intestinal distress so far. Fingers crossed for the rest of the evening.

With due respects to everyone involved, I am not the one for Hanna Montana – I am so much pissed about the entire show (just by the name of it, let alone seeing any of it – which I haven’t).

Kids of current generation, thanks to this stupid show, will associate the name ‘Montana’ with ‘Hanna’, while probably the greatest athlete who also shares the same last name gets almost entirely forgotten. Can this be more pitier ?
