I’m not exactly starting this year off with a bang, still being unemployed and bored. I considered making some resolutions this year, but they were the same as they always were. The same ones that I never keep, so is there any point in trying? Write every day, exercise more, eat less and better, be more responsible. Spend more time on the blog? Maybe even redesign it from scratch instead of relying on a template? Kind of find it funny that I spend more time these days at sites like Twitter and Facebook (and Flickr) than I do here. Maybe Twitter is ruining me for writing more than a blurb at a time. It’s easier to snap a picture on my iPhone* and hit “send” than to sit for a whole 15 minutes to bang out an entry.

Being unemployed and all, I have had a lot of time to ruminate on where I am in my life and all that stupid stuff that drives us crazy if we let it. Also finding out that many friends are going through the same kind of crap that I am, just in slightly different ways. It’s a little comforting to know that you’re not alone, but it’s lousy at the same time. I wouldn’t wish this kind of stuff for my friends.

*Did I say iPhone? Oh yeah baby, I said iPhone. Thanks to some generous family members at Christmas, I am now a proud carrier of one of the coolest little toys I have ever come to love. As a communication device? No complaints. I think generally the AT&T service up here is not as consistent as the other major provider, but it does seem to be getting better. I love the big buttons on the keypad (even Scott commented on how nice they were). I’ve never had a phone integrate so well with my contacts and calendar before. And since I use a .mac IMAP account for my e-mail, receiving/sending/keeping my e-mail updated has been a breeze. I had the thing synced within 10 minutes of opening the box. Completely user-friendly. Thank you, Apple. I know that in a month you will probably release a huge update in terms of speed and size, but I don’t care. You’ve won me over for now.
